There is a very big double standard of society with men and women. A guy could have sex with so many girls and then he brags about it and apparently this makes him a man. If a girl has sex with a lot of guys, she gets called a slut. I don't think I have ever heard a guy get called a slut though. Even more amazing though is the guy who sleeps with such a woman and labels her a hoe the next day while he acted in the same manner she did (retrieved from drdapo.com, 2010).
A man sleeping around with several women will get a pat on the back from his boys whereas a woman enjoying her single life is gossiped about endlessly by members of her gender (retrieved from drdapo.com, 2010). In other words the guy gets all the glory the more girls he can have sex with, meanwhile a girl could do the same and her name gets slandered. Why can't the girl get a pat on the back? I mean, it's one thing if she's cheating, but what if she's single? I don't understand why the guy can get away with it and the girl gets named.
I agree, in today's society it's insane what boys get away with! Us women have to be so careful to what we say or do, because if we do the wrong thing, our reputation goes down the drain. Our parents will look down upon us, along with the people who we call our "friends". This topic makes my blood boil and what really gets under my skin is that there's nothing you can really do... - Sigh -

Exactly. If a girl gets pregnant, she gets kicked out of the house, but if a boy gets a girl pregnant, well, "Boys will be boys"...

I believe the double standard is due to girls acting "hard to get", basically challenging us to get them in bed. A man sleeping with many women is considered to be a great accomplishment to other men because women act like they are challenging us to "get it in" with them. However if a girl wants to sleep with a guy they just have to "submit" to it.
ReplyDeleteSee that is where most guys problems are. The GIRL is playing hard to get, it's not the guy that's conceited and thinking "She wants me". And if a girl WAS playing hard to get, you probably wouldn't get with her. And "submit" to it?

I personally don't believe in double standards but this has been a serious debate throughout history. Double standards are pointless, they're just sayings people created to irritate the opposite sex.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I don't know which one is more irritating. the fact that the guys always have something to say even though they act the same way, or the girls gossiping about it.
